Salamander is pleased to announce the opening reception of the exhibition Imperfect World, which will take place on December 1st, 2022 at 5:00 PM. The show will remain open during the week of Art Basel Miami, between December 1-4.
Curated by Magda González-Mora and Yudinela Ortega, Imperfect World includes artworks by established and emerging artists alike, such as Gustavo Acosta, Lester Álvarez, Sandra Brewster, Helen Cho, Alejandra Glez, Lorena Gutiérrez, Coco Guzmán, Paula Lavanderos, Laura Mema, Fabián Peña, Vessna Perunovich, Gabriela Pez, Sandra Ramos, Alicia Rodríguez Alvisa & Lidzie Alvisa, Luca Soldovieri and Marina Vargas.
The exhibition proposes a collaborative path that offers strategies for cooperation, exchange, and understanding as a necessary marker of survival and flourishing. Rescuing the positive side of life’s own challenges as regenerative learning experiences, the show highlights the power of concrete actions and the need for mutual respect, tolerance and inclusion. Collectively, these works convey a plurality of nuances and stories, concerns and dilemmas that generate thoughts about the current state of the world. At the same time, they point in the direction of an open escape route that allow us to dream.
Imperfect World is the inaugural exhibition of Salamander, a new and vibrant cultural space in Miami, founded by Lisbet Polinario and Sebastián Barriuso. As curators, Magda González-Mora and Yudinela Ortega were invited to collaborate in the conceptualization of an exhibition that reinforces the need for strategies of adaptation and resistance in today’s society.
