Kim Andrews was born in 1939 in northern Saskatchewan. His first art studies took place in Edmonton Alberta followed by two years in New York. Subsequently he taught part time at the University of Toronto for 30 years. In the 1980’s Andrews began dividing his time between Canada and France and since 2005 he has been residing in France on a permanent basis. In North America Andrews is most often referenced to minimalism and in Europe to Concrete Art. While he concurs that there are points in common with these currents he considers a reliance on these references to be a limiting factor in approaching his work. His influences and interests are broad and varied and the fundamental goal for the work is to intersect with the influences and interests of the viewer. Kim Andrews is currently represented by the Olga Korper Gallery in Toronto, Canada and Galerie Wack in Kaiserslautern, Germany.
