Saturday, May 3rd: Barbara Steinman opening reception, 2 – 5 pm

Join us in celebrating the opening of The Place between Places, a solo exhibition by award-winning artist Barbara Steinman.

This exhibition features a series of photographs of places of longing where foreboding lurks outside the frame and of dislocated flowers that transform over time. Some works have been altered by hand while others embrace the fortuitous accidents of technical error. In the rest, the artist lets the image be.

Sunday, May 4th: Sandra Brewster’s Blur book launch, 1 – 3 pm

Sandra Brewster will be onsite signing copies of her new book! Blur presents a look at Brewster’s eponymous series, a body of work exploring memory, movement, and diasporic identity. Featuring reproductions of her photo-based gel transfer images, the book documents the development of Brewster’s techniques and themes since the series’ inception in 2016. An essay by Pamela Edmonds examines how this work challenges fixed representations and evokes histories of migration. Blur offers a detailed examination of Brewster’s methods and their engagement with ideas of opacity, resilience, and the complexities of Black identity. Sandra Brewster:

Blur is published by Free Pony Press, designed by Our Polite Society, and features an essay written by Pamela Edmonds
